A series of expressionist paintings, intended to respond to the East Kent coast in a purely abstract way.

 

Starting out as small collages of cut and torn paper, compositions are worked out and arranged quickly, forcing any notion of a traditional seascape out of the subject matter. These are then enlarged and painted on to a linen canvas, giving them a raw, dynamic, and emotive quality.
